Margaret (Maggie) C. Murphy
Director, NAMI Lehigh Valley

maggieOur director, Margaret (Maggie) C. Murphy, has more than 20 years of nonprofit healthcare management experience.  While living in Massachusetts for many years, she was executive director of the state-wide hospice and palliative care association. Maggie’s interest in mental health stems from personal experience as well as from witnessing the struggles of friends living with mental illness. She became the Director of NAMI Lehigh Valley in September 2016.

Of joining the NAMI Lehigh Valley team, she says, “NAMI Lehigh Valley has done so much to educate, remove the stigma of mental illness, provide support for patients and families, and advocate for change. I am eager to build on NAMI’s many accomplishments. Increasing attention is being paid to mental health issues—we have a growing opportunity to educate both the public and providers, promote better funding for mental health care, expand access to services, and assure that mental health care achieves parity with other types of health care.”

In her spare time she reads and volunteers as a mentor at Equi-librium, a therapeutic riding program.
